Opera of Light
My poetic synaesthesia of a
grand, synchronized illumination.

THE FIRST MOVEMENT
(Top Left to Bottom Right)Kora
A quiet resonance held between two planes. Like the kora, its slender form draws hidden colour into view, revealing light with the delicacy of vibrating strings.
Mbira
Nested planes echo the layered voices of the mbira. Hidden colour emerges gently, as though each shift in light awakens another note.
Uhadi
A single sweeping curve reflects the elegant simplicity of the uhadi. Light stretches across the paper like a sustained bow string, revealing colour through tension and release.
Inanga
Broad, quiet planes mirror the calm resonance of the inanga. Hidden colour settles softly within the sculpture before returning to white.
Adungu
Angular folds unfold into luminous space, recalling the graceful geometry of the adungu. Reflected colour gathers like overlapping harmonies.
Balafon
Layered planes rise and fall in quiet rhythm. Hidden colour appears in measured intervals, echoing the warm cadence of the balafon.
Zeze
Interlocking forms create a delicate visual rhythm. Reflected colour shifts through the folds like a melody drawn from a single string.
Endingidi
A long vertical opening carries reflected light through the sculpture. Hidden colour lingers within the form like the sustained voice of the endingidi.
